Rick Alcocer
Meet Rick Alcocer, our Senior Vice President of Fresh Sales and our point man for the latest sales strategies and figures. A native of the beautiful and fertile Monterey Peninsula, Rick knew he wanted to live and work in the area where he was born and raised and decided to pursue a career in agriculture.
His natural affinity for numbers led him to study finance and management in college, and he ultimately received his B.S. in Business from the University of Southern California. After working on several financial projects for a major grower-shipper in Salinas, California, he took a particular liking to their sales department. Starting at the bottom as an assistant salesperson, he has gone on to hold district, regional, and national sales management positions with three major fresh food companies.
Over a decade ago, Rick joined Duda Fresh, where each day is as unpredictable as the weather. When the climate refuses to cooperate, Rick works overtime to fill customer orders with the available fresh produce supply, and on less challenging days, he spends his time closing sales deals, setting up contracts, and placing ads. Rick invests a great deal of time in developing professional and personal relationships with our customers and relishes finding a winning combination where he can both exceed customer expectations and bring back a reasonable profit to our company.
When he’s not in the office, he can be found out in the fields or anywhere in the US or Canada, interacting with our customers in their marketplace. His personal motto and advice for everyone he meets is, “Eat fresh fruit and vegetables because chances are you will live a longer and healthier life!” In keeping with his healthy mantra, Rick spends his nonworking hours riding his bike, taking long walks with his dogs Maddie and Deke, and fly-fishing. He and his wife, Annette, have two children and one grandchild who often share in their outdoor activities and assist them in finding permanent homes for the Labrador Retrievers they rescue. Stay tuned to his Dandy Digest posts for valuable tips on how to stock your grocery store shelves to maximize profits.
