Lemon Pecan Candied Yams

What You Need

4 medium garnet yams; baked and sliced in half (lengthwise)

1 ¼ cups water

½ cup packed brown sugar

2 Tbsp. butter

¾ tsp. cinnamon

½ tsp. black pepper

¾ tsp. vanilla extract

¼ cup pecans; chopped

1 Dandy® Lemon; zest

Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, sugar, butter, cinnamon, pepper and vanilla extract.
  3. Bring to a boil stirring occasionally, reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes.
  4. Place baked yams in an oven proof baking dish and sprinkle chopped pecans over yams.
  5. Drizzle with the brown sugar glaze. Zest Dandy® lemon over the top of yams and bake for 35 minutes. Serve hot with all of your holiday favorites.
